PRESENTATIONS
The Perfect Storm Nurses are concerned about patients’ health but often ignore their own. Michael Maske’s Transformational Nursing Stress Model examines the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual stress factors that undermine a nurse’s health and lead to disability, burnout, and career change. Michael helps the audience recognize stress factors and gain insights into how stress affects them personally.

Stress Reduction Techniques for Healthcare Professionals Reducing stress begins with a journey of self-discovery — a better understanding of the “what” and “why” of nursing stress. But alleviating stress requires some practical tips and techniques. Michael grounds his presentation in the unique environment of healthcare, and then teaches meditative techniques to help healthcare professionals achieve more balanced, satisfying, and productive careers.

Recover and Rediscover Your ‘Why’ As the result of a personal life-changing experience, Michael understands the importance of the nurse in healthcare. He also recognizes that nurses frequently do not appreciate the impact that they can have on healthcare in general and their patients in particular. By telling his extraordinary personal story, Michael helps healthcare professionals reconnect with their ‘why’ and renew their passion for the healthcare profession.

Beyond Process: Connecting Through Stories In today’s isolating post-COVID world, it is essential for healthcare professionals to go beyond just communicating “the process” and actually connect with coworkers and patients on a more personal level. That connection can be the linchpin in a successful treatment program, as well as a satisfying career. Using storytelling techniques, Michael demonstrates how recounting personal and professional experiences can forge those invaluable interpersonal links on the job.

Supply Chain ‘Smarts”: Leadership Development In-House Leadership development is mission-critical for efficient supply chain operations. Yet many supply chain staff do not seem to understand or care about the importance of their role in the healthcare system. Do you really need one of those expensive programs to develop professional passion and create strong supply chain leaders? This presentation demonstrates how an organization can create its own cost-effective leadership development program in-house.

Lessons Learned in Selecting a Safe Patient Handling Device Since the financial, operational and professional stakes can be high, purchasing SPH equipment is often a stress-filled exercise. But it doesn’t have to be. Michael outlines a process that ensures a successful partnership between the SPH manager and the vendor for mutually positive outcomes.

Safe Patient Handling 101 With its focus on the safety of both patients and healthcare workers, Safe Patient Handling has come into its own as a key operational and financial concern throughout the healthcare system. Learn how to design, develop and implement a robust SPH program at your facility.
